Better Lives Counselling

INTEGRATIVE Counselling/psychotherapy in Teignmouth and Online/Telephone UK/worldwide

Initial Consultation

Before we begin working together, I offer a free 15 minute consultation which can take place online or on the telephone. This gives me the opportunity to find out more about you, your background and what brings you to counselling. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions about counselling or working with me. At the end of the call, we can decide if we are a good fit and if we want to work together, after which, we can arrange your first appointment.

My Approach

Person centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling is centred around you and your unique experiences, emotions, and perceptions. It places great value on the client-counsellor relationship, viewing it as a collaborative partnership where the counsellor supports and empowers you to find your own solutions and make positive changes in your life. This type of counselling can help you develop greater self-awareness, improve your self-esteem, and gain insight into your own values, beliefs, and goals. Ultimately, person-centred counselling aims to promote personal growth and empower you to become more self-directed and fulfilled in your life.

Integrative Counselling

Integrative counselling is a type of therapy that combines various theoretical approaches and techniques from different schools of therapy, to create a more personalised and holistic approach to counselling. Integrative counselling recognizes that every individual is unique, and therefore there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. It seeks to tailor therapy to the specific needs and preferences of each client, using a range of therapeutic tools and techniques from different approaches. By combining different approaches, integrative counselling provides a more comprehensive and flexible approach to therapy, enabling clients to achieve greater self-awareness and personal growth.

Gestalt

Gestalt counselling is a type of therapy that focuses on the present moment and emphasises personal responsibility, self-awareness, and your experience in the here and now. It views the individual as a whole, rather than focusing solely on the problem or issue at hand. Gestalt counselling encourages clients to take ownership of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and to become more aware of their own patterns of behaviour and how they interact with the world around them.

CBT

Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It recognizes that negative or distorted thinking patterns can lead to negative emotions and behaviours, and that by identifying and changing these patterns, you can improve your emotional and mental well-being. CBT is typically a short-term therapy that involves identifying negative thoughts and beliefs, challenging them, and developing new, more positive ways of thinking and behaving. It is a goal-oriented therapy that is often structured around specific treatment plans designed to address the individual's unique needs and challenges. CBT has been shown to be effective for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and addiction.

Mobile Counselling

If you have mobility issues, a hectic schedule or you feel anxious about coming to my practice, I offer mobile counselling , where we can work together in your home. All we need is a quiet and confidential space in your home for us to meet and work together. I am able to work with clients within 10 miles of my practice. If you are still interested in a home visit, that can still be arranged, but there may be a charge for travel costs.
